Baroque Concert at St. Paul’s, Saturday, 4/13, at 7:00pm

The Stony Brook Baroque Players, under the direction of Arthur Haas, will present a delightful program of vocal and instrumental music on period and modern instruments spanning the entire Baroque period, from the early 17th to the middle 18th centuries. Featured composers will include G.P. Telemann, F. Couperin, H. Purcell, among others. As a special treat to usher in holy week, we will be performing the extremely moving Lament of the Madonna by the Spanish/Viennese composer, G.P. Sances, and the glorious Easter Motet by François Couperin. The concert will end with a sprightly chaconne by Henry Purcell from his opera – The Faerie Queen. Please come and listen to these cream of the crop graduate students as they illustrate their virtuosity and expressivity in these masterpieces.
